About Doug Firs and Green Tea

Portland, Oregon has been my home my whole life. I work as a head teacher at an after-school program for elementary-age students.

I traveled around Israel with my best friend in March 2013, and explored Hong Kong and Yunnan, China with friends in March 2012. I was a study-abroad student in Oxford, England during July and August 2011. Check out my travel posts from those trips!

I read and write fantasy, fairy tales, poetry, and some sci-fi. Ursula Le Guin and Neil Gaiman are my heroes.

Food is my obsession. I experiment, I substitute one ingredient for another, I make big messes, I invent recipes, and on occasion I even follow recipes.
